The Cascadia Community Land Trust (CCLT) exists to hold land in trust for environmental conservation and the development of intentional communities.   The environment deserves to be preserved and protected and all people deserve access to land. These goals are naturally met in these life-enhancing communities.  Our unique focus includes homesteading, agricultural and healing arts and methods for resiliency through diversity.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create models of harmonious, resilient living that will positively affect the biology, ecology, economy and quality of life for the whole Cascadian region.   Regenerative farming will produce an abundance of organic food for local communities.  Jobs will be created. The strain on our housing market and natural resources will be reduced.  We wish to build a strong network of communication and support with like-minded organizations to ensure maximum effectiveness in securing the wellbeing of all.

Upon acquisition of land CCLT retains title to the land and upholds the central mission for each community to be a haven of lush biodiversity and satisfying multicultural and multigenerational relationships.  Prospective members will go through an extended process of screening and training.  Mutually agreed upon core values, bylaws and agreements will be upheld.  Villages will be designed with individual homes built in clusters around the Central Commons, allowing the vast majority of land to remain productive.  Beyond that, each community is free to create its own unique identity according to the skills and interests of its members.  The focus may be on agricultural production, cottage industries, spirituality, housing and rehabilitation for vulnerable populations, tiny house living, the arts, education- the possibilities are endless.

Our Story

Founded in 2013, Cascadia Community Land Trust was originally formed by members of the Bellingham community seeking a to realize their dream of living sustainably with one another. The organization has made numerous efforts toward acquiring land over the years, but had not yet found the right property to fully bring their vision to life. Still, CCLT remained hopeful and stayed connected as time carried on.

Today, Cascadia Community Land Trust is revitalized with a multi-generational community of strong vision and will, actively collaborating on their shared dream to live intentionally with land and each other, while holding spaces for learning, healing and connecting.
